The Pig Pen

I'm the last person I thought would ever create a blog. It's my lame attempt to give my family and friends a means of keeping up with my goings on and those of my kids. This way, I can prove I haven't fallen off the earth and that I do think of you all often.. even if I don't show it. Here goes!

It's a good thing you're sitting down!!!

Save the Date: June 13, 2008
Yeah, you read that right! Todd and I are engaged!

Roll your eyes, bad mouth me, whatever, I love this guy and I truly think my man-picker is not only fixed, but no longer needed! He's amazing and reminds me a lot of my Dad actually! In fact, it was I who proposed to him!
If you can make it, we'd love to have you share in our day!

Champagne Dreams and Hygiene Wishes

Saturday night a few of the girls and I (Todd was there too!) celebrated our hygiene school completion with a dinner and bottle of Dom Perignon!! It was a VERY long two years; one that several of us thought we'd never survive! I now have a great career, but most importantly, more fabulous friends too!

FYI : the pic of me is staged! I would NEVER chug Dom!!

Thanks to Jeremy for loaning me his camera! I still can't find mine!

And the survey says...

I got a 96 on my clinical boards!!!!! Results came.. I have never shaken so bad in my life as when I opened that envelope! And for a whole hour afterwards! What a relief!! Now I just await the results of my National Board exams. Hopefully that'll be here in the next week.

This photo was taken the day before my results but is a good representation of my mood today. My friend Kim (who scored a 100!!!) and I hung out and celebrated today with some MOA time.

Rough around the edges

Sunday morning. I was out until 3:30am. I slept maybe 4 hrs and had to get up and make pancakes. And all those other beeee-otches are still snuggled in their beds I am sure!!! Lyndsey moves back to South Dakota tomorrow. This is just sinking in now. I'm so gonna miss her!!! Last night a group of us went to The Foundation (a Mpls club) and did it up a little too good! I know SD isn't that far, but it's far enough. LOVE YOU LYNDZ!! (will post photos when she gets up and emails some to me!)

I've abandoned a plan to move to SW MN. The cost of living is so much cheaper there and it would be easier for me to get caught up on my life that way, but realized I would be putting myself in a personally compromised position if I did so right now. And having spent the better part of the last decade of my life that way, I'm surely not doing that again. Plus there is the fact that Michaela starts HS in fall, and moving her now probably isn't optimum. The plan may be revisited later; I guess one never knows.

So amongst my red flags, I made the decision to accept a position with Walser Honda. This is a very long story, but they've been pursuing me for nearly 2 months now. It'll be fun I think. And it'll be good experience for my ultimate goal of sales repping for Proctor & Gamble or the like. I know you're all sitting there going "But.." Yeah, yeah...hygiene. I will still pursue it. I love it. Will probably take a part-time float position with MetroDental on my one weekday off. And will still finish my Bachelor of Hygiene beginning in fall. But right now, I need to focus on making some $$ and getting my life together.

Well I'm actually gonna hit the treadmill. I need to think about some stuff and hopefully it'll help me with my 'party fog'!

Not much... and it feels weird!

I guess it really hasn't sunk in yet that school is over. Mostly because we always have a 2 week break between semesters, so it seems like a regular spring break. I guess it won't really sink in until after that time passes. I fearfully open the mailbox now scanning for the ever-telling golden envelope from the Central Region Testing Center. Have thrown about 15 resumes out there this week.

Working on getting the house sorted! Oooooooo whatta mess! So cleaning and dumping stuff in preparation of a much wanted move near summer's end. May even start packing up stuff.

I was sucked in by my classmates (Ok, I actually promised my buddy, Matt K., that I would) to sign up for an account on Facebook. It's a good way for us to keep in touch, but those people are a bit obessive with it! I admit, it's kind of addictive!

Kids are all well. Enjoying the warmer spring weather and longer hours for outdoor play. Summer starts for them in 2 months. Alex is very excited as he has his first wiggly tooth! At the rate he's going, he'll have it out a week from now!

A subtle reminder..

That that diddy "April showers bring May flowers" doesn't exclude SNOW showers!!! It's gross out! Oh how I long for the 80 degree day from about 2 weeks ago!

Hmmmmm well, the week's been full of the last of projects and presentations! Gave my final 25 minute presentation this afternoon. Just a final exam tomorrow that should take less than an hour. And I'm DONE DONE DONE!!!! Ok.. so I am going back in in May to complete the cleaning on my boards patient (we only clean a certain # of teeth during the exam) and to finish a patient who only wants ME to clean his teeth. So nice to be loved!

It is customary for the junior students to throw a party for the seniors on their last day. So..tomorrow night I'll stop by that for a bit. Doug is finally making his way to MN, so I'm disappearing for some care-free time for a few days! YIPPEEEEE!!

Happy Easter!

So...how DID the Easter Bunny become associated with Jesus rising from the dead anyhow?? Hmmmmmmmm... Just a thought!

Hope everyone is enjoying their holiday! Happy Bunny/Jesus Day to everyone!

This is our first day in like ..oh... let's say a week .. that the wind hasn't been blowing in gale-force proportions. YIKES! We are expecting snow this week though :(
We had a good weekend. Went down to Marshall and shared in the holiday festivities with Todd's family. As usual, lots of people (who are all just lovely!) and WAY TOO MUCH food! Pretty sure I actually don't NEED to eat until Memorial Day!

Here's a few photos taken during this evening's egg decorating session.

Volcanic-like pressures..

First off, thanks to all the well-wishers over the past week! I greatly appreciate it! Last week was written boards. And uh.. well.. that was ROUGH! Ya pretty much walk out of that 8 hour session feeling you don't have the right to be touching anybody with the questions they ask! Yikes! Today, I have my clinical boards in the afternoon. This is where I actually do a cleaning and a panel of national examiners (who flew in yesterday) will evaluate all that stuff.. And then next Monday is my Jurisprudence exam. And I won't have all the results until May somewhere. Nice huh?? I already don't have any nail biting left to do!

I have my LAST DAY OF SCHOOL on April 12. I am officially done at 1pm after my last final exam. But I'm not really counting!! After boards today, I have a paper to finish, a power point presentation to do, and article reviews to get done by Thursday. No problem! I keep telling myself that anyway!

My father is doing better. Still not sure why the antibiotics aren't totally clearing the mess up or what is causing the irritation. It's a mystery! The doctors/nurses can be a bit frustrating. Obviously, just thankful he's alive and has all his parts etc. He'll go home Wednesday. HUGE THANKS to Teri for being there with him! She'll come home (to MN) for a few days this week. She somehow got our eldest sibling to be with Dad until she can return the following weekend. Wonders never cease. Which is good since getting out of boards this week would have been difficult, though I would have worked around it. Still feel guilty for not being there as is.

Again, my apologies to Jeremy and his family. They, unfortunately, experienced a break in my crater this weekend. Sigh! And of course, to the kids who are having to live with me daily right now! I am in serious need of ME time. It's gotten to the point where, for the first time ever, I'm actually considering sending them to their fathers' houses for extended periods this summer. On top of all the above mentioned, there are other things dancing around on my plate which add to the mess. My life has never seemed as chaotic and messed up as it is right now. And those of you who have known me for any length of time, will know that it's pretty intense right now based on that statement!

The girls have spring break this week! Yippee for them! Due to a ticketing mishap, Michaela was unable to fly to her father's in NC. So I am sure we'll be seeing A LOT of Chan this week! Michaela and Becca are both having sleepovers tonight. Figured they are due some fun after this past month! LOL I don't have school tomorrow, so they can goof around all they want!

Well...I'd better go get showered and get my brain in test mode. Have a good week!
