The Pig Pen

I'm the last person I thought would ever create a blog. It's my lame attempt to give my family and friends a means of keeping up with my goings on and those of my kids. This way, I can prove I haven't fallen off the earth and that I do think of you all often.. even if I don't show it. Here goes!

Cold, hard proof!

In case, like me, you're still having troubles believing this whole nightmare
is over; here's legal, black and white proof that I am an RDH!!

I have also just sent off my application for licensure in South Dakota. It isn't that far away, and will open up opportunity as well. The funny part is that the SD Board of Dentistry convenes just three times a year in Pierre. And their next meeting isn't until JUNE! So maybe, I'll have a SD license by Labor Day!

Clarksville to Marshall ...16 hours!!

The kids begged for extra time in TN and for more Daddy time. We agreed with the stipulation that there would be no griping on a continuous 16 hr drive home the following day. I am proud to say that the kids stuck to their end of the bargain. One of the disappointments on the way home was that we didn't have time to stop by the St. Louis arch. And another was that I had to awaken Alex from his slumber so that he could view the arch. I must say, I've never curled up with a good roll of paper towels!

We'll have to make another trip that way, taking more time, to do some of the cool things like the St. Louis Arch Park and the Mark Twain stuff in Hannibal, Missouri.

Manuel Boots and Noriega Suits

And what would a trip to Nashville be without a trip to The Grand Ole Opry?? It was all abuzz! And the greeters outside wore genuine Noriega Suits! The tickets are $125 a piece so we didn't stay!! Maybe one day if we go back without the kids!

Enjoying the day

Everyone was enjoying the jaunt around Nashville! Doug overdid it a bit that day, but as you can see, he is doing well. The kids were thrilled to see him!

Walking Vine

Among other things at the Opryland, there is entertainment! This woman has a most uncomfortable task of being a vine, she dons that hot makeup, vines and stilts and parades around posing. Oddly fascinating!

Opryland Hotel

Opryland Hotel in Nashville is simply one of the most amazing structures I've ever been in. It has over 2,800 rooms, a river walk, waterfalls, stores and restaurants all under this glass atrium.

It is immense, and being added on to! The gardens are amazing! The people all over Tennessee are some of the most sincere people I've ever acquainted myself with....after you mentally over-ride the accent!

Organized Chaos

For as energetic as Alex is, he is, at the same time, very anal retentive. He likes it the way he likes it, end of story.

I took this photo one evening a couple weeks ago. Alex has a huge bin full of cars. They were neatly arranged in some fashion and the pattern grew to be much larger than this and stretched many feet in all directions. He worked so painstakingly at it, and was quite upset when the time came to reclaim the floor.

The next several posts will involve photos from our recent trip to Tennessessee to visit Doug over Easter. He is feeling better and we had a great time!
