The Pig Pen

I'm the last person I thought would ever create a blog. It's my lame attempt to give my family and friends a means of keeping up with my goings on and those of my kids. This way, I can prove I haven't fallen off the earth and that I do think of you all often.. even if I don't show it. Here goes!

Green pancakes anyone?

Yeah, that's what we had for breakfast today! Mmmmmmmmmm Mmm! Happy St. Pat's!!

Been busy.. as usual!!

Have all my papers in and my official hygiene license should be here this week! WOOO HOOO!! Redid my resume, but sorta got stuck there as I hate writing cover letters!!

Was suppose to go back to work P/T last week and decided I just couldn't. So I'm officially no longer a "Schwanie". Man, that feels good!!

Last week Rebecca won a poster contest for her room in which she depicted her favorite book "Dancing in Cadillac Light". The contest took place last month for "Love to Read" month.

Alex was nominated for "Kids with Character" at his school for displaying the character word of the week: "initiative". He's a character alright, initiative, I dunno about, but he's got a lot of other ones I could name LOL

Saturday we received news from Tennessee that Doug had been admitted to the hospital having had his second heart attack. They found another blockage below the stent that was put in the right coronary artery 6 years ago. They will then go in again tomorrow, on Tuesday, to clear a blockage in the left coronary artery which is 95% blocked. He is well and we talk to him on the phone and such. He will be released on Wednesday. I am hoping this prompts him to keep up on his medications and once again, stop smoking. I wish he could've seen the kids' faces when I told them, that was rough. The kids have a long weekend coming up due to Easter. Michaela will go to NC and the rest of us will be driving to Tennessee to visit with Doug. We feel the kids, especially Rebecca, need to go visit and be assured that he is doing ok.

Griffin turned 4 yesterday!! We celebrated with some Dog-Zerts. This is a dog-safe frozen confection for dogs made by Schwan's. They loved it and we had a good laugh watching them eat it and having it slide off the plate and get all over their faces.

Hope everyone has a good week!

Traci St. Aubin, RDH

I passed!!!!!!!!! Mostly, I was relieved and not all that excited. And probably still in a state of disbelief. Partially due to the fact that the one test took me multiple tries, and partly because it's actually 'over'.

I will gather my 4 board exam results, my applications, my photos and fees and head for the Minnesota Board of Dentistry's office in Minneapolis at week's end.

This has been one of, if not the most, trying experiences of my life. It's brought me much pride, independence, stress, grief and self-doubt. It's behind me now. And I am thankful for all of you who have supported me, encouraged me and put up with me for the past 3 years. In particular, but not limited to: my kids, my Dad, Kim, Todd, Lyndz and Leah. Without you, I never woulda survived this. Love and thanks is definitely not enough, but it's what I have!

Now comes the challenge of getting a 'real job', and of course, plugging away on my bachelor degree! I hope to have that finished sometime in 2009.
