The Pig Pen

I'm the last person I thought would ever create a blog. It's my lame attempt to give my family and friends a means of keeping up with my goings on and those of my kids. This way, I can prove I haven't fallen off the earth and that I do think of you all often.. even if I don't show it. Here goes!

Together Again!

This past weekend my friends Kim and Leah came from the Cities and Lyndsey came over from Brookings, SD, to join in a belated birthday celebration! Todd was the designated driver and a few of his buds showed up too! That goofy get-up I am donning is courtesy of my team leader at work, Karin! My sash actually said "Birthday Princess" ... GAG!!!! Did get me lots of free shots from the lounge-goers tho!!

We met several of my local friends at the ONLY place in Marshall that does Karoake! And a lot more people I hadn't expected to see showed up too!

We had a great time and the time was TOO SHORT! Hopefully it won't be too long until we can get together again! It's the thing I miss the most about all of us being in the Cities and in school!

Happy Birthday to Me!

WOW! It's my birthday, AGAIN!!! Didn't I just have one of these?? It's true, they do come faster the older you get! Not that I care, my age has never bothered me. I'm 37 this year. Staring hard at the big 4-0 now. My thirties have been pretty awesome, so I only suspect my 40s to be better!

Been crazy...running around with meetings for Faith Formation (or Catechism as it was called when I was a kid all those years ago!), Girl Scouts, blah, blah! Egads!

Looking forward to Friday as my friends Leah and Kim are coming down from the Cities and Lyndsey will come over from Brookings, SD!! They and my local pals here will be out celebrating my birthday then! I'm pretty excited to see everyone!

A day at Camden

Todd's aunts, Bonnie and Linda, are in visiting from California and Idaho, respectively. So on Saturday we all met at Camden State Park for a family picnic. It was great fun! This park is AWESOME! We all gathered mostly to hang out and have fun, but to also celebrate Todd's grandma's birthday and his aunt Paulette's birthday, both of which occur early in this week.

We ate COPIOUS amounts of food, hiked, played ladder golf and just plain goofed around. The weather was cool so it was a perfect day for playing outdoors.

Number 9

Becca celebrated her 9th birthday on the last weekend of summer! Doug came up from Tennesee for the long weekend. We had a small gathering at the house and did dinner and made s'mores around our firepit in the yard. They all had fun! And since Becca's actual bday was on the first day of school, she took some cupcakes in for the class!

I hope she always thinks that it's fun having her bday on or near the first day of school. She certainly gets a kick out of it now!

The kids have all adjusted so very well to their new schools. They all have made friends and always come home smiling and telling tales! Alex has come home every day off the bus and said "Mom!! I just LOVE school!!" Thrilling! Rebecca has always liked school, and even Michaela, seems happier with school than she's been in quite some time. I knew they'd do fine, they're just like that - adaptable - which is how I've always tried to raise them. But still, ya worry, as a parent, about such things. I'm glad they've shown me I had nothing to be worried about!

And now the crazy schedules will be begining. Becca and Alex will be starting Faith Formation classes next week, Girl Scouts will be starting as well, and of course, there are inquiries from them about the local TaeKwanDo school.. egads!!

Finally got Todd totally moved out of his apartment last Friday. Now the garage is FULL again! OH MY! He's been quite busy working, trying to finish up his pistol etc leagues and working on his friend, Tim's, combine -which is desperately needed in the field. So I think the garage won't have a car in it for a while yet!

Piggles!

The first weekend of September Michaela and I drove up to the Cities for an overnite stay. She stayed at her friend, Chan's, place. They were so excited! They hadn't seen eachother in over a month due to their family's trip to Vietnam and our move. Not being around Chan has been very hard for Michaela, but we'll make the trip as often as we can. The piggie was one of many gifts brought to Michaela by Chan and her family.

I spent the night with my friend, Kim, and took my hygiene exam on the Saturday morning. Of which, I have heard nothing!
